Nutritional Kinesiology

“Take care of your body, it’s the only place you have to live”

“Kinesiology uses food nutrition and supplements to support, rebuild and maintain your long term health and vitality.”

Kinesiology can support you in addressing whatever health problems you might have. In a nutrition-focused session, I am not focused on treating diseases but rather helping you adequately address the underlying causative factors of your health challenges while supporting you structurally, emotionally, mentally and metabolically. Think of this process like an onion… one layer at a time, from the inside out we will address what’s highly important to the lesser!

We live in a world today where food is mass produced in nutrient-deficient soil. A large amount of it is transported over long distances. It is over-processed, preserved and chemical enhancers added. By the time it gets to the table we find ourselves consuming nutrient-deficient calories. Processed foods do not contain the building blocks of life and are one of the key causes of illness. Think about it – the nutrients we eat are the building blocks of our cells. When we are nutrient deprived it makes sense that our bodies don’t function optimally.

Kinesiology can help you determine what nutrients your body is missing out on. It can also help you understand what chemicals and nutrients you are overloaded with. It can help uncover blocks in the digestion and assimilation process. It also points to blockages in energy systems that may account for digestive disturbances.

You have probably heard of that phrase, ‘you are what you eat!’…well, it’s true. Everything that you put into your body becomes a part of who you are on a physical and energetic level. Your cells are a product of the nutrients they have been able to derive from your food and water intake.

Food & Mood

Did you also know your food can control and affect your mood? And, on the flip side, your mood can affect your food choices.

If you are experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety like low mood, irritability, lack of motivation and low energy levels, it may be difficult to find the energy and motivation to make healthy food choices. These unhealthy types of foods can also cause sever hormone imbalances which cause disruption to your nervous system and send incorrect signals to your hormone control centre. In addition, when we are stressed, the nervous system and the endocrine system (hormone control) adjust their outputs to enable the body to function under stress conditions in the short term. When the stress is unresolved, these outputs erode the health of your body over the long term, causing the body’s health to break down.

When we are stressed, the autonomic nervous system and the endocrine system both create changes in our body. The autonomic nervous system shunts blood away from the digestive system and into your body’s muscles to equip it for physical action as would be required in a survival scenario. It also slows the movement of the gut down, changing the profile of the gut flora and eventually leading to toxicity in the gut and the rest of the body. When the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) becomes sympathetic dominant, then our ability to regenerate and rejuvenate is switched off because there is not time for a re-generate when we are in a perceived survival threat – It is the perception of a survival threat which triggers the stress response in the body. Then during that stress, the endocrine system will kick in and increase your cortisol output. Whilst cortisol is a necessary hormone, when we are stressed, the cortisol output increase causes untold havoc upon our bodies in the long term.

Did you know that high cortisol is at the root of all our dietary cravings?

When we are stressed cortisol tells your body not to eat or digest all your healthy slow burn foods. It changes your metabolism to only process the fast burn sugary refined foods because they deliver quick energy for when we are under a perceived survival threat.

These two changes, autonomic and endocrine, mean that you are also creating changes in your toxicity and immune status as well eventually with other secondary effects leading to a breakdown in your health.

Emotional Eating

“Food is a very emotional issue. Kinesiology can help clear sabotage programs and inner conflicts that surface around food and the emotional relationship you have with certain foods.”

How we eat is about so much more than just providing fuel for the body. Food provides us with a way to nurture ourselves and our families and bring us together with the people we love. So many of us have food addictions and disorders that reflect a negative way of seeing the Self. We may use food as punishment or a crutch – Kinesiology can help investigate and clear these issues to help you create a healthy relationship with food.

During the session

I will:

  • use my knowledge of muscle testing, as well as a number of body reflexes and meridian points to help evaluate your physiological functions to determine what is currently happening in your body and what your body requires to heal itself
  • test for and balance the six stages of nutrition; diet, digestion, absorption, circulation, assimilation and elimination
  • check immune functions – Immune Mismatch Response, overgrowths, inheritance factors, etc.
  • identify the best nutritional changes required, be it food, supplementation or dietary adjustments
  • identify if the nutrition is of benefit, and whether there is any reason you should not take it
  • identify which foods/supplements we need to add/change/delete in your diet to better support your health
  • address emotional issues/concerns around food
  • and much more.

Beyond that, I will use my holistic range of therapeutic modalities to further enhance your healing process and support your body, mind and spirit to return to a state of complete balance.

Supplementation

In some cases, everything the body needs to function cannot be derived from the nutrients of our food, therefore I recommend supplementation. I do not stock a wide range of supplements but will provided some suggestions and relevant information regarding recommended brands you can buy online or at a health food store.

Choosing the right supplements are very important. For example, there may be an ingredient in the supplement that may cause an adverse reaction, such as a filler or binder added during the manufacturing process. The quality of ingredients can also be a big factor to the success of the treatment. For example, a supplement may use synthetic ingredients that the body has difficulty utilising or a calcium supplement may use dolomite, which is natural, but sometimes can’t be broken down and absorbed efficiently. Kinesiology can decipher which food or supplements are the most beneficial for each individual client.

Hydration

Water makes up 70% of our body and without it, we cannot live. Water is such a big component of who we are but we don’t often consider the water we are drinking. Water has also proven to be an important conductor of meridian energy around the body, and in Kinesiology practice, it is essential that clients are well hydrated before they experience a session.
